original 1903 photo Alaska Eskimos on beach with tools, S. Hall Young collection
Original photograph of Yupik(?) Eskimos on the beach, with tools, from western Alaska. S. Hall Young was the photographer. Location unknown. The people moved their heads so they are blurred. You can see dogs, a buck saw, a long handled scoop, etc. They might be making tea.
Came with other photos from 1903.
Creases, surface loss at the bottom, and stains. About 4 1/2 X 3 3/4 inches. Poor condition as can be seen.
Very rare photograph as this is NOT a commercial photograph.
This item is from S. Hall Young's personal collection, a part of which I acquired from a relative of S. Hall Young's many years ago. S. Hall Young came to Wrangell Alaska on July 10, 1878 and stayed for 10 years. After spending the next 9 years in the lower 48, he returned to Alaska in 1897 for 13 more years, traveling to many areas of Alaska as a missionary.
S. Hall Young wrote the following books:
Alaska Days with John Muir
Klondike Clan
Adventures in Alaska
Hall Young of Alaska

Please be advised that most of the bidding occurs in the LAST 5 SECONDS of the auction. But beware, if you are the high bidder with 10 seconds to go you probably won't be the high bidder in another 10 seconds. Bid the maximum that you are willing to pay and you will be OK. eBay will only use as much of your bid as is necessary to push you one price increment past the next highest bidder. Ask yourself this question, at what price will you not regret losing the item to a higher bidder. Too often I hear “I should have bid higher”.

I will only ship to CONFIRMED PayPal addresses.
This is an auction and all sales are final, unless I’ve made an error in the listing.
