Selling an original hand colored lithograph of “War Dance of the Sauks and Foxes” from McKenney and Hall Portrait Gallery of American Indians, published In Philadelphia,1838.
This has full margins and professionally matted and framed with Museum Glass. Condition is very good. Please review pictures for details.
I purchased this years ago from the original buyer who purchased it from The Philadelphia Print Shop. The original paperwork and price list included (,700 in the 1990’s).
The sheet measures approximately 21 x 15 inches (23 x 17 1/2 inches framed.
These original prints are rare and very collectible. The original paintings were destroyed in a 1865 fire at the Smithsonian.
Overall these original lithographs represent an important part of Native American history and culture.
