    Description

Check out this rare vintage souvenir felt sewn pennant.  Pennant is from “TOLEDO, OHIO” with an image of a sailboat on a lake.  It is made of blue felt with white stitched border and blue tails, image is screen-printed with multiple colors, the lettering in white.  Pennant measures approximately 11.5 inches long, add 4 inches for the tails.  The condition is good for a piece of this age, it shows some fading and a small rust stain one top border, probably from a staple.  The screen-printed graphics and lettering are still sharp with no cracks or creases through it.  Everything can be seen in the

    pictures.
These pennants were obtained by my parents from their collecting and camp décor days when they stayed at their cabin near “Downeast, Maine”.  During the 1980s through 2010s, they visited local country estate auctions, biding and buying things that caught their eye. This is how these pennants came into my hands.  Although not marked, most of the pennants were made by the ‘Keezer’ company.  Visit my store to see the other pennants I have available.  I am adding more as my time permits.  I discount bundles and shipping, ask me if interested in more than one pennant.  Smaller pennants are shipped flat, otherwise all others are protected and carefully rolled-up and packed loosely inside a box.
Felt pennants are from of an era of days gone by.  They are 20th century time capsules
when felt pennants were popular and affordable souvenirs sold near public attractions and sporting events.  Primarily an American born and bred tradition, the decline in popularity, rising material and labor costs have rendered them a obsolete.  They have, however, become popular with collectors.  Good examples like this one are getting harder to find.  Newer pennants, up until they fell out of vogue, were (are) made overseas, punched out in the shape of a pennant.  Needless to say they don’t come close in the craftsmanship and materials like this pennant- in other words- they stopped making them like this before they stopped making real felt pennants altogether.  The inferior made ones from the 1980s and on  have a bad reputation of disintegrating over time like cheap newspaper.   Don’t miss your chance to add this rare and authentic vintage felt pennant to your collection.  It could add a different vintage touch to your décor, or maybe as a unique gift for that special person.
